Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers about how Cullit works, what it supports, and what to expect.

How does Cullit work?

Upload your shoot, choose a profile (wedding, events, family, etc.), and Cullit scores every photo for sharpness, exposure, composition, and emotional timing. You review star ratings in the browser, adjust anything you disagree with, then sort your photos into star-rated folders on your own drive — no ZIP files, no scripts.

Is the culling perfect?

No AI tool is perfect. Cullit is designed to cut the majority of your manual pass — and to keep emotionally important shots that pure-technical tools reject. Unusual lighting, ambiguous expressions, or stylistic choices get flagged for your final eye.

What algorithms do you use?

Two passes: OpenCV reads technical quality (blur, exposure, face detection, composition). Claude Vision reads the moment — emotional timing, subject relevance, what makes a frame feel alive. The final star rating blends both. Technical and contextual, not just pixels.

How does pricing work?

Upload any shoot for free. Pay $4.99 when you're ready to export or sort your photos. No subscription, no monthly charges — just pay per session when you actually need the output.

What formats are supported?

JPEG, PNG, and common RAW formats including CR2/CR3, NEF, ARW, RAF, ORF, RW2, and DNG.

How does the folder sort work?

On Chrome or Edge, Cullit can read your source folder and write sorted copies directly into star-rated subfolders on your output drive — no downloads, no ZIP files, no Python scripts. Your originals stay untouched on the source drive. Safari users get a classic ZIP export instead.

Do you support Lightroom or Capture One?

The folder sort writes XMP sidecar files alongside each photo if you enable that option. Import the output folder into Lightroom and ratings carry over automatically.

Do you offer refunds?

If the analysis failed on our end (server error, corrupt results), contact support and we will make it right. No refunds for completed jobs where the results were delivered.

How do I contact support?

Email support@theculling.app and include your job ID if the issue is about a specific batch. We are a small team — expect a response within one business day.
